Mel Nobec
energetic. happy. genuine.
Mel has been a photographer over 10 years. They have a BFA in photography from the Art Institute of Minnesota and got their professional start assisting award-winning wedding photographer Eliesa Johnson, owner of Photogen Inc. And that’s a funny story, actually. On one of their first weddings assisting Eliesa, Mel tripped over a flower plot during the first look. It caused a huge commotion and Mel was pretty sure they ruined the first look, but later the bride told them it helped relieve all the nerves and it ultimately made for a great wedding day story.
Mel first became interested in photography when they were in high school. Mel loved the freedom it gave them to pick up a camera. Mel was never one to sit still in class and being able to move where the action was attracted them to photography. Mel enjoyed documenting friends, family, and everyday life. You might say it just “clicked!”
Mel believes weddings are all about fun, so the ideal couple is willing to let their guard down in front of the camera, allowing Mel to capture their true personalities. Mel’s niche is in photographing weddings for LGBTQ+ couples throughout the Twin Cities. When Mel is not behind the camera, you might find them trying new foods with friends, spending time with their pets, or up north with a paddle.
