I met Eirene, Misha, and their mothers in the waiting area of the St. Paul Juvenile Justice Center courthouse. The moment was humming and anticipatory, of course, but also serene, like the snow falling ever so lightly outside the 4th floor windows. The judge who delivered the ceremony may well have been a bard - for someone who only just met the couple, her officiant remarks were so sincere, so deeply rooted in love, justice, and a love of justice, that all of us were in tears. (Hats off to you, Judge Nicole J. Starr!)
After the ceremony and some heartfelt moments with their moms, we headed over to Eirene and Misha’s light-filled, newly-purchased home for portraits. I loved the way that their home highlighted their creativity and personalities - an already gorgeous slice of St. Paul architectural history made even more special by family art pieces, beloved records, and Misha’s impressive collection of very happy houseplants.
