Mel and Laura were married in Northern Minnesota on the last true weekend of summer when the shadows are long and the light makes fairytales of everything. The celebration took place at a family property on Shallow Lake, which is very dear to Mel and Laura for the many special memories gathered there over the years. Their wedding added new ones: vows exchanged along the shore with the lake glimmering in the background, a post-ceremony pontoon sendoff, friends and family laughing over delicious Lebanese food from Pinched Catering, and an ever-growing strands of caricature portraits lining the outside of the pole barn throughout the evening. Everything came together perfectly with the help of Greene Frame Events!
Mel and Laura met in high school and have built an extensively vibrant, supportive, and loving community around them over the years - of which I am deeply honored to be a part. The queer joy I witnessed was palpable and effervescent - not unlike the sparklers everyone lit after the sun had set. The pole barn was illuminated by a disco ball and a fluorescent sign heralding a new era: The Nobecs - Mel and Lauraโs chosen last name, a heartfelt tribute to both of their lineages. Jeff Gavin's Band had everyone dancing long past moonrise, and the night ended with an incredible rendition of Purple Rain. That iconic high note (you know the one!) streamed out of the barn to meet the cricket symphony, which also played its best in kind.
Congratulations to the Nobecs <3
